Mobile Applications, shortly known as Mobile Apps are types of applications designed to run on mobile devices such as smartphones-Android or iPhones and tablet computers. A mobile app is like a small software unit with a few functions to provide its user with a good quality experience. There are no integrated software systems for mobile applications like that for web applications. Every mobile app comes with a particular functionality such as a mobile game or a browser designed for the phone or tablet. 

There are various technologies used for the development of mobile apps. Some of them include Flutter, Java, Python, Swift, React Native, Kotlin, R Programming, etc. Native apps are built for a particular type of mobile OS or Operating System as the name says. The perfect example is an Android app used exclusively for Android Phones and tablet computers and an iOS App which is meant for iPhones and iPads alone. Native Apps are really good as their performance is excellent and gives the user a great experience. Such Apps are available to download from their respective app stores such as Play Store for Android and App Store for iOS devices. But the cost for developing a native app is high as you need two teams for each platform-Android and iOS.

It’s a profitable business as even mobile versions of popular games are also downloaded a lot. Many games are created from popular movies such as games based on the Harry Potter series. All statistics show that mobile games are a grand success. Games like Candy Crush Saga are known to even fewer percent of people who do not play them. 

Educational Apps are mobile applications designed for users to acquire more knowledge on various topics and learn new skills. There are language learning apps to help you learn a new language which can be an asset in the future. This is a great tool to teach kids and is useful for teachers to learn more about their subjects and help themselves in their job. 

Business Apps are used to perform many tasks like booking movie tickets, tracking your train, and lots more. Even apps that help you find a new job is an example of a business app. 

eCommerce Apps are mobile applications that help customers to shop from their smartphones at a click. They can choose their products and payment methods from the mobile screen in hand and have a great shopping experience. It’s the era of online shopping. Examples of such mobile applications are the popular apps Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, eBay, etc. 

Lifestyle Apps are mobile applications that are quite popular with the youth and young at heart. This includes apps for different purposes such as shopping, different fashion brands, workout and fitness, health and diet, and dating apps. 

Utility Apps are those mobile applications we use to get many things done easily and examples are healthcare apps or even QR code scanners. Entertainment apps are mobile applications that help you unwind and relax like gaming apps. You can stream videos, chat with your friends, etc. All social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. are entertainment apps. So are the, Over The Top (OTT) Film and Video streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. They give you updates on new shows and films released in the OTT and are immensely popular around the world. 

Travel Apps are mobile applications that help you to travel easily by making your mobile device a guide or diary to help you know everything about the place you plan to go to. The perfect example is Google Maps. Even travel services like Uber falls in this category. Mobile devices are a part of everyone’s life now. Most people have a smartphone whether they are poor or rich. So mobile apps have become an integral part of everyone’s life to make your lives easier.
